Parent, guardian, or grand parent of a skateboarder(s);I have a friend(s) who skateboard;I skated in the past but am not actively skating now

Do you support changing the bylaw to allow skateboarding downtown?

Safety is very important

Skateboarding should be in safe areas where prohibited and proper gears or equipment to minimize bodily injuries.

If elected, will you support the continued implementation of the Skateboard Amenities Strategy by dedicating funds to skatepark development?

Definitely look at the cost and see how we can all ensure fundings will be available to support activities that our communities enjoy.

The budget from 2015-2018 would be revisited in planning and look at ways in which funds could and can be raised.

Do you support allowing skateboarding in the Cycle Track?

I like to think of safety first.

I am a parent, grandmother, friend, cousin, aunt etc. and I am very conscious of safety and we  would need to look a the city’s plan and ensure that all members of society who enjoy their activities have a place in doing so which provides a safe environment.

I recognize skateboarding as a legitimate way to get around and would support exploring ways people could do so in the downtown core in a way that is safe for them, and for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers with whom they share the sidewalks and roads. I see many skateboarders on the cycle tracks and would like to learn more about how the skateboard community experiences this infrastructure. I believe the cycle tracks represent a good compromise and believe that cyclists, skateboarders and others who use people-powered wheels to get around could work together to have this infrastructure expanded.

If elected, will you support the continued implementation of the Skateboard Amenities Strategy by dedicating funds to skatepark development?

Yes

There are currently no skateparks east of Deerfoot Trail, though one is planned for the Genesis Centre. While this falls outside the boundaries of Ward 10, I will support its development and continue to work hard to ensure that there is a diversity of recreation facilities available to residents of northeast Calgary.

Do you support allowing skateboarding in the Cycle Track?

Yes

My general observations have been that skateboarders and cyclists seem to coexist without too many problems on the Cycle Tracks. It is important that, however people choose to get around, they can do so safely.
