We’ve posted some photos of the new skatepark in Airdrie. This is what the City of Airdrie is saying:
The new Skate Park in Chinook Winds Park is complete and now open to the public. However, the area immediately surrounding it remains a construction zone closed to the public. There is a temporary access being provided to the Skate Park only. “We love the enthusiasm we’ve seen already and we know people are anxious to try it out. We want you to get out there and ride right away, so we’ve opened the skate park early. In return, we know you will use it respectfully so it doesn’t have to be completely closed off before the Grand Opening August 28,” says Rhonda Deaville-Erb, Parks Planner.
The Skate Park is 1860 sq.m (20,000 sq.ft) of outdoor multi-use park area for skateboarding, biking and rollerblading – almost three times larger than the existing skateboard park at Nose Creek. Room for all!
Where is it? Travel west on Yankee Valley Boulevard, turn left onto Chinook Winds Drive, past the Rocky View School Division building. Continue past the ball diamonds, around the south end as the road curves right. The site can only be accessed via the south end of Chinook Winds Drive. This is also the construction access; please be respectful of all signage – construction equipment and workers. They’re working hard to get the park ready for the Grand Opening.
Stayed tuned to airdrie.ca for more details on all of Chinook Winds park amenities and details of the grand opening in August.
