There are some locals putting out some nice decks these days:
Artschool Skateboards has some nice designs and a team made up of Reuben Bullock, Jeff Kent, Denis Lebel, and others. Scope their site for more info:
Visionary Skateboards is another local deck company whose team includes Jeff Muirhead and Tyler Peterson, along with some riders from across Canada. Here are some of their latest decks:
Get your HD TVs out because The Source is doing a skate video in HD! It’s being done by Brock Mitchell, so you know it’s going to be good. Check the teaser here:
Local skate videos have been hard to come by as of late, but Mark Webber is changing that. Sus Monts will be premiering in May and features Derek Timoshenko, Kevin Lowry, Ben Stewart, Drew Merriman, Sean MacAlister, and others. Check the teaser:
Go to your local skateshop and pick up the latest issue of Concrete Skateboarding. It features a 10-page interview with Calgary’s own Ryan Oughton. There’s also a Barcelona article that has photos of Kevin Lowry and Sean MacAlister.

This might not seem like a big deal, but a board that has a lot of sentimental value was stolen from Millennium Park during the clean up.
It’s a Real Peter Ramondetta Train model. It has a very unique shape — it looks like a coffin. The deck itself is all black, with some scrapes. It’s got Indys, and larger Spitfire wheels. I’m willing to bet there is only one in Calgary because this one has Ramondetta’s autograph on it. There is a reward being offered for its return, no questions asked.
