Vertical Edge

Monday, October 27th, 2008

It’s supposed to be nice out for the next few days, but damn was it cold over the weekend. As you probably know there aren’t many options for skating indoors in Calgary. Your best bet is to head to Red Deer and hit up the Vertical Edge indoor park:

Volcom Wild in the Streets — Arizona

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

A gang of Calgary locs went down to Arizona for the Volcom Wild in the Parks contest final. Although none of them finished particularly high, some of them made some waves down there. There is a shot of Riley Boland on the contest’s website and Beau Larson has a switch heel in the contest video.

New Parks Nearby

Monday, October 13th, 2008

It was snowing at the Canmore park on Friday. We still had fun though. They unveiled plans for their new Newline park that could be under construction as soon as next summer. Check them out here.

Another nearby town that’s in a similar situation as Canmore is Langdon (bad park, good one on the way). Spectrum has planned out the park but have not yet broken ground so the “Langdon Lumps” are still skateable. Barely.

Strathmore is another place that will have a great park very soon. Newline is currently building this park so we’ll be able to skate it before the snow comes. Check the design here.

Source Demo in Canmore

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Short notice here, but the Source Canmore is going to be hosting a fundraising jam session tomorrow at the Canmore skatepark. Of course this park is not the greatest, but that’s the reason for tomorrow’s event– to raise awareness that a new park is needed. I’m not sure what “pros” will be there but I know some of the Source team will be skating.
