Live Style/Mini Ramp Jam

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

There is a mini-ramp contest in conjunction with the City of Calgary’s Live Style event on May 2-3. There will be a lot of good performers like Keys N Krates, Kardinal Offishall and others. B-boy and graffiti demos as well. This is an invite-only contest so get ready to watch some locs shred.

Old Spot Check: HiFi Barrier

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

It looks like winter is here again, for a few days anyway. If you have access to an indoor facility, consider yourself lucky. We’ve had the chance to skate some good ramps this winter (Josh E, Hart House, etc) but there’s nothing like pushing around on concrete.
Since we can’t skate outdoors for a while, here is a shot of an old spot that’s no longer around. The HiFi Club barrier was fun for a solid couple of years.

Zor gets feeble on a long-gone spot.

Black Hand Double Set

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

There’s a newish double set up at the University. It’s aptly named “The Black Hand” because it’s at a building that has an ominous looking black hand painted on the side of it. The set is no joke, either. 5-flat-3, some cobblestone up top but with a solid take off and landing. The rail is a relatively low double-kink. Landing is kind of half on/half off so bringing wood is a good idea.
